A guided platform that turns a high-touch executive resume service into a self-serve product.
The problem
The client ran a high-touch, expert executive-resume service built on a refined, proprietary methodology. Delivering it by hand did not scale, and every engagement depended on the client's personal time.
The approach
A guided, self-serve web app that walks each user through the same process the client applied by hand, ending in a downloadable, job-matched resume. A structured profile, onboarding, and subscriptions are the shared infrastructure underneath.
How it's built
This product is a React application with a Node.js backend and PostgreSQL, tied together with tRPC for an end-to-end typesafe API. At its core is a guided workflow that encodes the client's refined, proprietary resume methodology as software: each stage captures structured input and carries state forward, so a user moves through the method the same way the client would guide them in person. An "Optimize" button uses AI with the first-pass answer, and the method's guidance to suggest an optimized version.
Underneath sits a Profile Manager that tracks career information (work history, education, skills, certifications). The builder draws on these to assemble a tailored, downloadable resume.
The result turned a manual, expert service into a scalable product that enhances the quality of the original method.
